Comments: Illustrated hardcover under dust jacket, 28,5 x 23,5cm, b&w photographs. In very good condition other than edgewear at the spine of the soft cover as well as a scratch its back, and stains on the edges of the book. Also, few text pages are embossed at the bottom (see picture). First French edition. It comes with a booklet with captions. Design by Doon Arbus, Diane Arbus' daughter and Marvin Israel, Diane Arbus' friend in New York in 1972.
The book explores the origins, scope, and aspirations of Arbus's wholly original voice. Arbus’s frank treatment of her subjects and her faith in the intrinsic power of the medium have produced a body of work that is often shocking in its purity, in its steadfast celebration of things as they are.
The text, translated in French, is made of extracts of one of Diane Arbus' classes of 1971, as well as writings and interviews.
