"In the beginning I just took pictures of my friends. The situations were real and I documented them, although this process often drew out the sexual aspect of the moment. They have a lot of fun working as models for me. For me sexual situations are very interesting (well, I guess they are interesting for most people; everybody has sex). On the one hand it's an everyday thing, but under normal circumstances it stays private, so nobody else sees. My models are never ashamed of themselves, even if people make negative comments. Knowing most of my models very well means that for me, my pictures are a reflection of my life. Like those you see in a family album. It is always a pleasure for us to look at the shots again. They would never pose like this for anybody else. For me, my work isn't pornographic at all ..it's just intimate. There are just situations when you come home and your girlfriend is sitting naked on a chair, for example. This situation isn't pomographic, it's natural, and therefore my representation of it can potentially be natural.
In the beginning I just took pictures to keep a record of these intimate situations. Gradually I realised that the pictures are
unusual because of this sense of privacy and ease, and they have become successful. I now also use professional models, stylists and hair and make-up artists for arranged photoshoots, but I still try to create a natural atmosphere. Things should look real. The most common question that people ask me is why I do what | do. Perhaps people expect only men to take pictures like I do. But the photographs aren't part of the genre that people might associate them with. Maybe that's how these people want to be able to react to them. But it's not so simple."
