The link between Sète and its inhabitants through the eyes of a great contemporary documentary photographer
ImageSingulières is a festival of documentary photography created in 2009 in Sète. Each year, a renowned photographer is invited to take a look at the city and produce a series of photographs that are published in a book. Some of the world's greatest photographers (Anders Petersen, Stéphane Couturier, Richard Dumas, etc.) have produced a remarkable collection that reveals many facets of contemporary photography.
In 2019, Vanessa Winship will be in charge of the residency. Known for her long-term work in the United States (She dances on Jackson) and Anatolia (Sweet Nothings), she is the author of a body of work that is both classic and contemporary, questioning the link between people and territory.
Christian Caujolle, critic and exhibition curator, has written a text to accompany this body of images.
