Born in Osaka in 1957, Japanese photographer Waku Rokuzo published his first photobook "Nest of Dreams" in 1990 after graduating from Nihon University College of Art. The book features portraits of a diverse and unconventional range of subjects, such as dancers, bodybuilders, AV actresses, entertainers, comedians, elderly rugby players, boys holding baby dolls or women in swimming clubs. The book explores humanity's contrasts - beauty and ugliness, grace and shame - through these striking portraits evoking the work of photographers such as Diane Arbus.
