It begins in red, in Sanguine—red like blood, like flesh, like life. The first human images were not only animals drawn in charcoal, but negative handprints, made by blowing red ochre clay—a simple way to say: I was here.
My work follows the same impulse. I inscribe invisible images deep within myself, hidden from the sun. Perhaps one day, someone will find them and recognize in them the fragile trace of my existence.
This book is my own act of keeping these traces alive.
