Yukoku (Patriotism) is a short story by Japanese writer Yukio Mishima

Set during the 1936 military mutiny in Japan, it follows Lieutenant Shinji Takeyama and his wife Reiko. When Takeyama's loyal friends join a failed coup, he is ordered to lead troops against them. Torn between duty to the Emperor and loyalty to his comrades, he decides to commit seppuku (ritual suicide), and his wife chooses to die alongside him.

Hardcover with obi and acetate jacket, 26,3 x 18,5 cm. B&w photographs beautifully reproduced in a rich gravure. In very good condition other than some small tear on the acetate and a fold on the first page (see picture). Rare with almost no stains inside. Highly collectible !!
