Dutch photographer Paul Kooiker’s books are gems that have reached near cult status amongst devotees. His latest (and greatest) Room Service is part of a series; Hunting and Fishing (1999), Showground (2004) and Seminar (2006) all produced in the same format and design and all somewhat fetishistic in nature. Featuring predominately large female nudes photographed in front of bookcases, Kooiker uses several techniques; close-ups revealing the printer’s benday dots; over-flashing; blurring; and color saturations that give the nudes the ephemeral quality of found photographs.
