"Tsugi no yoru e" was Yamatani's first photobook, self-published with a limited edition of 150 copies in 2013.
It sold out immediately, and being such a limited publication, it is rarely seen even in second hand markets.
On this occasion, a limited second edition will be published with the same characteristic patchwork cover.

Sometimes I feel like I'm lost between the ages.
I spent my adolescence and early adulthood in the 2000s, but most of the things I liked were from the past.
That's why with photography I want to find something that transcends space, and I'm attracted to things that have an intensity that transgresses time.
When I was 22, i quit the punk band I was in, and a trivial impetus led me to photography.
In order to find what photography meant to me I travelled throughout Japan and abroad,
but I wasn't at ease with just pressing the shutter at whatever novelty I came across.
In 2010, I decided that I wanted to go back to the world of live music venues, camera in hand.
I felt that those who gathered in these places were also drifting between the past and the present.
I wanted to make it clear where I was coming from.
I decided to move in with an old friend in Osaka, where I barely knew anyone, as opposed to Tokyo, where I had many acquaintances.
Every night we were on the streets, and on the weekends, at live music venues.
I hung out with new friends until morning, but there was never a night where I felt really fulfilled, and I was constantly feeling a frustrating incompleteness.
I had hoped, simplistically, to encounter something. But no such thing ever appeared.
This is "Tsugi no yoru e." (Yusuke Yamatani)
